I thought so too but after getting back on the air after 10 years away, was surprised how many were out there. Think it is due to the USA amateur radio operators no longer having to pass CW anymore to get their ticket so now they can work HF bands. Would be nice if they would learn how to send code as I have worked some pretty rough CW where the guys were Extra class. Now all they have to do is pass a written exam in the class they are trying for. The proagation is starting to get better so working Europe and Asia is getting more easy. According to what I read, the solar index is starting to increase so that means all the HF bands should open up soon.
