Well, image number seven is one of your "ugly babies" grown up. They both can leave the nest now, so the other "baby" was off learning how to feed itself.

By the way, I assume that the second one is still alive. While I was there, I also watched a group of eight or more of these birds wadding through the swampy area next to the rookery. I did not catch it on camera, but an alligator jumped out of the swamp and nearly got one of the birds! This gator must have been twelve feet in length!
