On scene mode the face recognition software is fantastic.

Just checked the price here in the USA. with a 4 gig card, carrying case, cleaning kit and something else that I can't remember come to $439.00. Kind of sounds high to me for what we get.

So far this a cool toy and not expecting it to match the D3 for quality.
The thing I hate about compact cameras in general in that they tend to look like made for kids to use.
THis one has all the usual dslr buttons and functions to play with. Some are pretty neat too.
Aperture mode is usually my favourite but have been trying out some of the pre sets to see what settings the camera picks.
SB 400 will make a hugh difference I hope when it arrives.
The camera easily fits into my pockets too.
My dogs have had enough now and run off when i point it at them.

Sounds like you are having fun with it. Know what you mean about the dogs. :D Mary Ann is getting tired of me photographing her. We lost power last night and it just came back on a few minutes ago. Am on my first cup of coffee.

I bought my wife a small Canon P&S. Does a nice job. I took it on the Iowa trip. My daughter currently has the memory card, since it has images of the farm on it. I may get it back on Christmas!

I always felt the Canon P&S cameras were better than the Nikon ones. The P7000 is a different story though.
