It is a coating that helps keep the end of board from from drying to fast. It also helps to cut down on splitting as it lets it dry more even. When you buy lumber at a store you will notice all the ends are painted.

Ok Sparkey, here you go. The large board in the oak and the smaller ones are fir (2X4X8) The nails are down on the bottom end where you can't see very will. I agree Sparkey, When I use the D200, it is like holding a toy. Love the feel of the D3. It gets the job done.

Got that dang thing cut up. Hit two nails and wiped out the blade. I even ran the metal detector over it and didn't see these. They were small but the blade lets me know when it hits one. Put on a new blade and slabbed off a 4X12X6 foot board. Missed the nails that time so now have a very nice thick...

Kind of expensive but beats buying a new camera

Had one go bad on the D100. Just hope the D3 charger keeps working. Hate to have to buy a new camera just because the charger went bad. Not sure where a person can get a new one for the D3. Nikon doesn't list it.
