It appears that banding is an issue with some of the D700's, but not all. Shades of the D200!
One poster noted that he does not have any problems with his D3, but does with the D700 under the same conditions.
Nikon D700 Banding!
Re: Nikon D700 Banding!
Have been following the posts and it looks like most of the problems are shots 1-2 stops under then blown up 200-300 percent. Tried it last night but just can't bring myself to under exposing that much. Heck what is the meter for in the camera. the exposure bar shows if a person is under exposing or not. Also if the blown white blinker is turned on, a person should be able to tell if he/she is going to have problems. All I can say is, "Come on people, learn how to use the equipment".
I remember the banding issue with the D200. I tried every way to get mine to band but just couldn't do it. I even tried the shooting a bare light bulb.(which I kind of felt stupid doing). After over 20,000 shots the D200 is still doing fine,

Re: Nikon D700 Banding!
I agree with you John. I never had a problem with my D200, and proper exposure should help to eliminate it in the D700. It will be interesting to watch the frenzy though!

Re: Nikon D700 Banding!
The D200 banding only affected something like a couple of thousand bodies from the early batch and these were recalled for modification to the sensor. I wonder if they were all returned thoug? The photographic press made more of the problem than it was and mine weren't affected by the problem.
Funnily enough though, I briefly owned a Nikon Coolpix 2000 and that did suffer badly from banding. If you remember, I took it back and swapped it for the Leica.

Re: Nikon D700 Banding!
D3 owners dont do banding.

The owners don't, but what about the camera?Sparkey wrote:D3 owners dont do banding.
