I have the SB800. I don't use it that much, but it is handy to have.

It’s so much better than my old SB600. The results are amazing it’s as though the flash says oh here we go again with this geezer I better compensate for his crap technique.

Looking at buying one for the D500 now and will leave it in la la land with the camera.

Its the hassle of bringing camera equipment through airports and onto planes has become a nightmare.

Could you take a ship to France? More time, but cheaper? Would it be easier to transport gear?

I could but it would be a lot more expensive. Then I would have to drive all the way to the bottom of France beside the Mediterranean. Its so much easier to get a cheap flight. Hope this trip on 13 th Dec should make air transport of camera gear a thing of past. Besides the SB700 is 60 Euro cheaper in France.
