Jon, how did you get your Avatar down to 8kb? The smallest I can get is 40kb. I can get it into the measurement restriction but not to 8 kb.

Pick an image that you want to crop down to size.
Use the 'crop tool', setting the dimensions to 100x100 pixels or less.
Select and crop the portion of the image you want.
Do a 'save as' and select JPG type.
Reduce the 'quality' to get the smallest size by kbytes possible.
You may not get it down to 40kb or below. If not, save the same file a second time, adjusting the quality.
That should do it! I just tested it out, and it worked.
