Airplane restrictions are doing my head in. Tried a little experiment this holiday in bring the D200 and two small lenses. 35mm f2.0 and 50 f1.4.
Found that while the 50 f1.4 is a great lens it is too big for general photos because of the crop facture on the D200.Too used to using the full frame D3. Used the 35 f2.0 most of the time. Plan is to leave the D200 and 35 f2.0 permanently in France so no messing round with customs and security. Got my hands and jeans button swabbed this time plus the camera. I asked what was it for....drugs ? no we are checking for explosives. The world has changed. It used to be simple to travel and it was enjoyable but now......

Re: Jan 2018 France
You still managed to come back with some good images! I really dislike travelling by air with my gear. Last time, I had to remove everything from my camera bag and run it through the x-ray machine in a tray. They then wanted to take all caps off everything and eyeball it. Finally, they swabbed most of it.
There is a new service that will ship your gear to your destination, and deliver it to your ship or hotel. I might look into that, and just take a small emergency camera with me on the plane.
I'm glad to see you posting!

THese people have a job to do and I understand that but they dont seem to understand that cameras and lenses are delicate and can be knocked out of use by being handled roughly.
Re: Jan 2018 France
Yes, they do have a job to do. So, I won't complain, but will look into alternative ways to live with it.
