With Kodak shutting down most of their lines, wonder if they will continue to make professional films? The films we used in aerial mapping was made by Kodak. It was 12 inches wide and up to 500 feet long. Most of the stuff we used was 250 feet long due to our film processor.

It is too bad about Kodak, but maybe they will survive. If not, there are other companies that still produce film. I'm not sure what the largest sizes are though. What this guy may have done is special order the film he needed. If you have 15-20 thousand to spend, any company will accomidate you!

When I was a photo-reprographer, we used film that was 62 inches wide by up to 100 feet in length almost every night. Actually, it was not unusual to go through three to four boxes of the stuff every night. The film came from about four different companies, with Agfa being the primary one we used. Kodak, even then, was too expensive!

We were shooting most of the mapping for the USGS and the contract stated they would only accept Kodak film. Don't know anything about the other companies.
