One interesting thing is that x-ray film has an emulsion on both sides of the film. There is no anti-halation backing. Sometimes, you will see a slight halo around the image, based on how the light hits the subject.

Guess I'm getting to old and losing some of the white stuff but do you remember /r on lenses for focusing when shooting I believe IR film. If I remember correctly that was due to the emulsion was on the backside of the film and the /r indication was to correct the focal plane.

If I remember correctly, you have to focus a little different with IR film, because the IR wavelength hits at a different point than visible white light. But, the emulsion may be on the back ast well.....
